From
this module, I learned that AI can be much more than just a tool for creating
lessons—it is a powerful partner for assessing student work and giving
meaningful feedback. The key ideas that stood out were how to use AI for all
three types of assessment: diagnostic, formative, and summative. I discovered
apps like
, and
, which make this possible. Even within commonly used platforms like Google Classroom, I found features I hadn’t considered before, such as embedding questions in YouTube videos and using guided practices.
I
also realized that Google AI Studio
allows the creation of personalized apps to provide feedback on student work,
such as essays and written reports, which is excellent for assessment. Learning
this showed me that AI can help make my teaching more empathetic and responsive
to each student’s individual needs. I was particularly excited to learn that AI
can help me create rubrics for essay
writing through MagicSchool, something I hadn’t tried before.
These concepts have changed how I view feedback and assessment. Previously, I believed that giving detailed feedback or designing unique practice for each student was almost impossible because of the time it would take. This module showed me that AI can take on much of this work. The idea of an app giving immediate, specific feedback on essays was completely new to me and challenged my old habit of doing all grading myself—a routine I was familiar with as an English Composition teaching assistant. AI can truly be a companion, allowing me to focus on other aspects of teaching while it handles repetitive tasks. Tools like MagicSchool and the
showed me ways to be more efficient without sacrificing quality.
In my future teaching, I plan to use these tools to make assessments and feedback more effective. I will use Quizalize to create quizzes that I can export to Kahoot! or Booklet, and take advantage of Google Classroom features like Guided Practices and the YouTube Video Tool to make lessons more interactive. For topics that are challenging or for fast finishers, I will use AI to create personalized practice activities in seconds. For students with limited internet access in class, I can assign these activities as homework. I am also excited to explore BRISK Teaching further, as I am still discovering its full potential beyond feedback features. Using these tools will help me make my teaching more creative, dynamic, and engaging.
